Challenge:
The University of Technology Sydney’s Centre for Social Justice and Inclusion (CSJI) engaged Erin to develop a set of infographic templates that staff could use to communicate research, data and initiatives clearly and consistently.
The project focused on designing flexible visual systems for communicating social impact, creating a practical and accessible toolkit that could support ongoing communication across the Centre while remaining fully aligned with the UTS brand.
Approach:
Erin developed a modular template system that balanced structure with adaptability.
The templates were designed with clearly defined zones for text, graphs, charts, diagrams and key messages, allowing content to be organised consistently while remaining responsive to different types of information. This structure supports clarity and hierarchy, while giving staff the flexibility to adapt layouts to their specific needs.
The system was built in Canva, an accessible and easy-to-use platform, enabling staff to update and reuse the templates without requiring design expertise. Careful attention was given to typography, layout and visual hierarchy to ensure that the templates maintained impact and cohesion.
Key Outputs:
A suite of four infographic templates
A modular layout system with editable content zones
Templates supporting:
text and narrative
graphs and charts
diagrams and visual elements
highlight statements and key messages
Fully branded designs aligned with UTS guidelines
Templates delivered in Canva for ease of use and accessibility
Outcome:
The project resulted in a flexible and scalable communication system that enables CSJI staff to present their work clearly and consistently without ongoing design support.
The templates provide a strong visual foundation for communicating research and data, while supporting accessibility and ease of use across the organisation. By embedding structure within the templates, the project ensures that visual quality and clarity are maintained as content is developed and shared over time.
